National Heritage Week celebrates Ireland’s cultural, built and natural heritage. It brings together volunteers, community groups and heritage enthusiasts to share their experience, knowledge culture and practices.
St Sillian’s or St Cilian’s church, (Tehallan) stands on an important ancient ecclesiastical site and is listed as of architectural, archaeological, artistic and cultural significance. The origins of the Christian community of Tyholland can be traced to the fifth century, the time of St Patrick. This Heritage Week talk will give those attending a tantalising glimpse into the early stages of the research into our parish and its people carried out on our behalf by professional archivist Brigid Clesham.
We wish to acknowledge the grant of €4,123 received from the Heritage Council under the community Grant Scheme which funded this project
