Tuesday 20th August 2024 – St Salvator’s Church, Glaslough 12midday and 2pm. “Bishop Leslie & St Salvator’s Church” Talk by the Revd Tim Irvine
Rev. Tim Irvine will speak about Bishop John Leslie and his involvement in the three phases of the Irish Confederate Wars: the 1641 Rebellion, the Confederates War and the Cromwellian War which preceded the Restoration of the Monarchy.
These talks will follow on from the earlier tours of the walled garden at Castle Leslie.
Tuesday 20th August 2024 – St Sillian’s Church, Tyholland at 8pm – “History of St Sillian’s 1827 -1950 ” Talk by Mrs Brigid Clesham
Archivist and researcher, Brigid Clesham, will speak on the final part of her research – “St Sillian’s – A History of the parish and its people” (1827-1950). In her talk she will refer to the Select Vestry Minute Books and the families who were were associated with St Sillian’s during that period.
Wednesday 21st August 2024 – St Muadain’s Church, Errigal Truagh – “The Diaspora of Errigal Shanco and Errigal Truagh parishes” Part II – Talk by Ethne McCord
This year Ethne McCord will continue her journey around the parishes of Errigal Shanco and Errigal Truagh recording the families who once attended the Church of Ireland churches of Errigal Shanco and Errigal Truagh and photographing any remaining homesteads. This will be an opportunity to engage with the local community and to gather as much information as possible on the families who were once part of a vibrant Church of Ireland community living within the parish of Truagh.
